Photography Restrictions at Fashion Shows in Maricopa County: What You Need to Know

When it comes to fashion shows in Maricopa County, Arizona, there may be certain restrictions on photography that must be taken into consideration. This is due to the fact that public health and safety are of utmost importance, and the county has the authority to regulate activities that could potentially put citizens at risk. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors requested its Planning and Development Department to investigate and prepare a draft of what would eventually become Ordinance P-10. This ordinance outlines the procedures and regulations for businesses and facilities in the county. It requires adult entertainment companies to obtain a license before operating in Maricopa County.

This requirement has been challenged by Dream Palace, a live adult nude dance venue in Maricopa County, and some of its managers and employees. The county has admitted that it is modifying these provisions so that the contested restrictions apply to pre-existing businesses. In addition to the regulations imposed by Ordinance P-10, designers using the Fashion Hub can take advantage of weekly Phoenix Fashion Week classes on topics such as branding and profit margins. Phoenix Fashion Week is trying to turn the Valley into a fashion hub through the Emerging Designers Program, which helps aspiring fashion designers network and learn about business while designing their lines. However, Maricopa County cannot avoid the constitutional ban on outlawing non-obscene expression by regulating nude dancing with restrictions so strict that dancing no longer conveys eroticism or resembles adult entertainment.
